John A. "Jack" Cassidy

John A. "Jack" Cassidy, Jr. a lifelong Beacon resident, entered into rest Tuesday, July 2, 2002 at St. Luke's Hospital, Newburgh. He was 75.

Son of the late John A. and Sarah Kearney Cassidy, he was born March 26, 1927 in Beacon.

He was married to the former Mary D. Yankowski. Mrs. Cassidy preceded him in death on January 21, 1995.

Jack proudly served his country during World War II in the United States Navy as a pharmacists mate. He attended New York School of Embalming and Restorative Art in New York City. He received his funeral director's license in 1951. He was a driver for the City of Beacon Fire Department stationed at Wm. H. Mase Hook and Ladder Company. He owned and operated Cassidy Funeral Home in Beacon. He was currently licensed and associated with Halvey Funeral Home, Beacon since 1973. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Beacon and Dutchess, Putnam, Ulster Funeral Directors Association.

Survivors include his children, Mark Kline of Newburgh, Melissa Kline Darrigo of Newburgh, MaryFrances Ninnie and her husband, Michael of Beacon, and Erin Santarelli and her husband Mark of Plattekill; six grandchildren, Kenny, Christina, and Alexis Darrigo, Bernadette Santarelli, Mark Jason Kline, and Kara Supple; a great-grandson Matthew; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his beloved cat, Tommy. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by one son, Roy Kline; one son-in-law, Kenneth Darrigo; one daughter-in-law, Marie Kline; and two sisters, Loretta and Jane.

Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Sunday, July 7, 2002 at Halvey Funeral Home, 24 Willow Street, Beacon.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Monday, July 8 at 11 am at St. John the Evangelist Church, Willow Street, Beacon

Interment will follow in the family plot in St. Joachim's Cemetery, Washington Avenue, Beacon.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations on Jack's behalf maybe made to either Beacon Volunteer Ambulance Corps, PO Box 54, Beacon, NY 12508 or Animal Rescue Fund (ARF), 60 Simmons Lane, Beacon, NY 12508.
