Luigi DeDominicis



Luigi DeDominicis, a longtime Beacon resident, entered into rest Wednesday, November 10, 2004 at his home surrounded by his family. He was 72.

Son of the late Antonio and Sabina Chiulli DeDominicis, he was born September 25, 1932 in Cugnoli, Italy.

He married the former Argia Mezzanotte on May 9, 1953 in Italy and then together moved to Beacon.

Mr. DeDominicis worked as a welder and owned and operated L & A Blacksmith Shop, Inc. in Beacon until his retirement. He was a real estate developer and owner of Prospect Realty Syndicate, Inc. also in Beacon.

Luigi was a charter member of the Sons of Italy, St. Francis of Assisi Lodge, Beacon; a honorary life member of Mase Hook and Ladder, Beacon; a member of St. Rocco's Society, Beacon; a member of Benevolent Protective Order of Elks, Beacon; and a member of the Order of Redmen, Beacon. Throughout his life, Luigi gave in many ways to many charitable organizations that needed a hand.

Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Argia Mezzanotte DeDominicis at home in Beacon; his sons, Arthur DeDominicis and his wife, Diane of Wappingers Falls and Michael DeDominicis of Garden City, New York; his daughter Marisa DeDominicis and her husband, Paul Castrucci of New York City; his brothers, Egeo DeDominicis of Hillsborough, New Jersey and Mimi DeDominicis of Pescara, Italy; his five grandchildren, Kali, Lucca Selene, Steven, and Elena.

He was preceded in death by his son, Louis A. DeDominicis on November 30, 1988.

The DeDominicis family wishes to thank the many friends and family that made frequent calls and visits during Luigi's illness.

Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Friday, November 12, 2004 at Halvey Funeral Home, 24 Willow Street, Beacon.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 am on Saturday, November 13, 2004 at St. Joachim's, Leonard Street, Beacon.

Entombment will follow in the family mausoleum in Cold Spring Cemetery, Cold Spring.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations on Luigi's behalf may be made to either St. Joachim-St. John the Evangelist Church, 2 Oak Street, Beacon, New York 12508 or Hospice, Inc., 374 Violet Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
