Stephanie Antalek

Stephanie Antalek, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother entered into rest, Tuesday, August 20, 2002 at her home in Fishkill. She was 79.

Daughter of the late Harry and Victoria Garo, she was born May 5, 1923 in Dutchess Junction. She attended Beacon schools and graduated from Beacon High School.

On September 5, 1943 in St. Joachim's Church, Beacon she married Michael Antalek. Mr. Antalek survives at home.

Survivors include her husband of nearly 59 years, Michael Antalek at home in Fishkill; her children, Stephanie Idema and her husband, Peter Idema III of Hopewell Junction, Carol Regan and her husband, Dr. James Regan of Poughkeepsie, Michael Antalek and his wife, Diane of Wappingers Falls, Mark Antalek and his wife, Denise of Alexandria, Virginia, Dr. Matthew Antalek and his wife, Dr. Kathleen Donovan-Antalek of Gettsville, New York, and Kristine Trabucco and her husband, John of Dover Plains; eleven grandchildren, Michele Belmonte of Wappingers Falls, Shawn Regan of Chicago, Illinois, Allison Antalek of Dobbs Ferry, Heather Hinton of Poughkeepsie, Erin Regan of Millbrook, Michael Antalek, III of Allston, Massachusetts, Kathryn Idema of Hopewell Junction, David Antalek, EM3 stationed with the US Navy, Matthew, Margaret, and Moira Antalek all of Gettsville, New York; one great-granddaughter, Shelby Hinton of Poughkeepsie; three brothers, Stanley, Joseph, and Harry Garo all of Beacon; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Mary Garo and Anna Rogler, and a brother, Michael Garo.

She was a Corrections Officer at Mattewan State Hospital and later Fishkill Correctional Facility retiring in 1977.

Mrs. Antalek was a member of St. Mary Mother of the Church, Fishkill. She enjoyed camping and traveling. She bowled for many years on the Ladies Monday Night Bowling League at Southern Dutchess Bowl.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 22, 2002 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Halvey Funeral Home, 24 Willow Street, Beacon.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 am on Friday, August 23, 2002 at St. Mary Mother of the Church, Fishkill.

Interment will follow in Fishkill Rural Cemetery, Route 9, Fishkill.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations on Mrs. Antalek's behalf may be made to Hospice of Dutchess County, 374 Violet Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.

The family wishes to thank Hospice, especially Carmen Solis, Cyndie Cohn, and Kathy O'Brien for their special care and comfort.
