James J. Blanchfield
James J. Blanchfield of Beacon, entered into rest Sunday, February 13, 2005, at home. He was 95.
Son of the late Thomas and Alice Cauwels Blanchfield, he was born on March 10, 1909 in Patterson, NJ. He wed his loving wife, Nina Marchese, in 1933. Nina passed away on March 23, 2002.
James retired as the Superintendent of Sanitation for the City of Beacon. He was also greatly involved in the community. He belonged to such organizations as the Trinity Council Knights of Columbus #445 in Beacon, the Trinity General Assembly Fourth Degree, Lewis Tompkins Hose, as an honorary member, St. John's Holy Names Society and the Elks BPOE in Beacon, as a former Chairman of the Board of Trustees.
Survivors include his son, Joseph Blanchfield of West Palm Beach, FL; his grandsons, Daniel Blanchfield of Long Island, Patrick Blanchfield of Hopewell Junction and Timothy Blanchfield of New York City; his brothers Leo Blanchfield and John Blanchfield, both of New Jersey; his great-grandchildren, Evan and Morgan Blanchfield, and Samantha Blanchfield; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife, Nina, he is predeceased by his son Tucker, who passed in 1988.
The family will receive their friends on Wednesday, February 16, 2005, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Halvey Funeral Home, 24 Willow Street in Beacon. Members of Trinity Council KofC will meet at 8 PM for services.
A Mass of Christian burial will be offered on Thursday, February 17 at 10 am at St. John the Evangelist, Willow Street in Beacon. Interment will immediately follow at St. Joachim's Cemetery, Beacon.
