Frederick L. Bossong


Frederick L. Bossong, a longtime Glenham resident, died Saturday, September 9, 2006, at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh. He was 91.

Born in Beacon on September 15, 1914, he was the son of Frederick J. and Anna Ripple Bossong.

Mr. Bossong was employed as a lab technician at the former Texaco Research Center, Glenham, and later at Tuck Tape, Beacon. He was a US Army veteran, serving during World War II and took part in the Battle of the Bulge. He was also a former member of the Elks Club.

He is survived by three sisters, Evelyn Kudzia, Beacon, Dorothy Squires, Pine Plains, and Theresa Laidlaw, Beacon; several nieces and nephews, and numerous grandnieces and grandnephews. Mr. Brossong was predeceased by his sister, Katherine Norton. His family loved their brother and uncle and has many fond memories of his kindnesses.

The family will receive their friends on Thursday, September 14, 2006 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Halvey Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Willow Street, Beacon.

A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. at St. Joachim’s Church, 61 Leonard Street, Beacon.

Interment will follow in St. Joachim’s Old Cemetery, Washington Avenue, Beacon.

Donations in Mr. Bossong’s memory may be made to Voluntary Services, VA Hudson Valley Health Care Systems, Castle Point Campus, Castle Point, NY 12511 or to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105.
