| Walter S. Cantela Walter S. Cantela, a resident of Wappingers, entered into rest Sunday, March 23, 2003 at St. Lukes Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh Campus. He was 84.
Son of the late Raymond and Ernestine Anntinelli Cantela, he was born July 26, 1918 in Brooklyn, New York.
He married the former Mary Hynes. Mrs. Cantela survives in Bronx, New York.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II. He was a mechanic for White Plains Ford before his retirement.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, a son, Walter Cantela and his wife, Roe of Long Island and their children, Gina Sheridan, Walter Cantela III, Denise Cantela all of Long Island; a son, Douglas Cantela and his wife, Britt of Brookfield, Connecticut and their children, Tiffany Cantela, Douglas Cantela, Jr., and Jenifer Cantela all of Connecticut; a son, Dwight Cantela of Bronx, and his children, Dwight Cantela, Jr., of North Carolina and Lisa Cantela of Bronx; a son, Vernon Cantela of Beacon and his children, Anthony Cantela of Newburgh, Jernell Cantela of Bronx, and Sierra Noel of Beacon; a daughter, Bernadette Cantela of Beacon; and a daughter, Vanessa Croll of Newburgh and her daughter, Melissa Kobjack-Urich of Coppell, Texas. He was predeceased by a grandson, Gregory Cantela.
Visitation will be from 10-11 am on Wednesday, March 26, 2003 at Halvey Funeral Home, 24 Willow Street, Beacon.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, March 26, 2003 at the funeral home.
Interment will follow in St. Joachim's Cemetery, Washington Avenue, Beacon with military honors.
