|James J. Figo
James J. Figo, an 83-year resident of Beacon, died Friday, February 1, 2008, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie. He was 88.
Born in Mount Vernon, NY, on January 15, 1920, he was the son of Thomas and Josephine Malone. He married the former Charlotte E. Sutherland on May 31, 1943 at St. Luke’s Church, Beacon. Mrs. Figo survives at home.
Mr. Figo was a press operator at the former Nabisco plant in Beacon. He was a US Navy veteran, serving during World War II. He was a Life Member and Past President of W. H. Mase Hook and Ladder Co., Beacon, and a Life Member of Lewis Tompkins Hose Co., Beacon. He was also a member of St. Rocco’s Society, Beacon; Veterans of Foreign Wars, Newburgh; and Beacon Elks Lodge.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, James J. Figo and his wife, Beth A., Virginia Beach, VA; one daughter, Linda A. Baltra, and her husband, Lenny, Prospect, KY; three grandchildren, Dawn M. Snyder, Tammie F. Mason, and Joseph J. Figo; six great grandchildren, Kenneth and Patrick Mason, Austin Snyder, and Tayler, Jackson, and Lilly Figo, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive their friends on Tuesday, February 5, 2007, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Halvey Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Willow Street, Beacon.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, February 6, at the funeral home with Rev. Edwin Cromey officiating.
Interment with military honors will follow in Fishkill Rural Cemetery, 801 Route 9, Fishkill.
