Mary Elizabeth Keenan Lynch
Mary Elizabeth Keenan Lynch passed away peacefully on Friday, May 16, 2008, surrounded by her family, at the Kaplan Family Hospice Residence, Newburgh, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 60.
She was born January 6, 1948 in Beacon to Edward and Elizabeth Lord Keenan. She married Peter J. Lynch on July 26, 1969, who survives at home. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Kelly Lynch-Moloney and her husband, Sean, Chester, and Heather Lynch and her husband, Marc De Oliveira, Beacon. She was lovingly called “Goon-Goon” by her three grandsons, Matthew and Ryan Lynch-De Oliveira and Liam Moloney. She is also survived by her two brothers, John Keenan and his wife, Jenny, and Dennis Keenan and several nieces and nephews.
Mary enjoyed her work as a nurse’s and teacher’s aide at Glenham Elementary School where she made lifelong friendships. She was very active in her local parishes, growing up a parishioner of St. Joachim’s, Beacon, and then later dedicating her time to St. Mary’s in Fishkill where she volunteered each week. Mary was also an active member of the Red Hats Society and loved having a good time with the girls. In addition, Mary was a member of the Beacon and Fishkill Historical Societies.
Mary and Peter were fortunate to have traveled extensively, but her favorite place away from home was coastal Maine. She fondly recounted the many family vacations to York Beach during the summer months between school years and was especially happy to have recently spent a family vacation in Maine with her daughters and their families.
