Helen Savoit
Helen Savoit, a 56-year area resident, died Sunday, May 25, 2008, at her home in Wappingers Falls. She was 83.
Born in Springfield, Massachusetts on July 11, 1924, she was the daughter of Harold and Kenneith Pratt Knapp. On August 24, 1950, she married Robert Savoit in Springfield, MA.
Mrs. Savoit was a teacher in the Beacon City School District for over 25 years, taking great pleasure in teaching and seeing her students progress over the years. She was President of the Mid-Hudson Library Association and was active with Howland Library, Beacon. She was a parishioner of St. Joachim-St. John the Evangelist Church, Beacon.
In addition to her husband, Robert, she is survived by her son, Peter Savoit, his wife, Aura, Manville, NJ, and their children, Luis, Jorge, and Jessenia; her daughter Judith Davies, and her husband, Thomas, Kerhonkson, and their daughter, Capri McLucas and her son, Andrew McLucas; her sisters, Suzanne Knapp, Lowell, MA, and Judith Boyce, Southborough, MA; her brother, Harold Knapp and his wife, Maureen, Pittsfield, MA, and twenty-seven nieces and nephews and their families, along with many dear and close friends.
The family will receive their friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, May 28, at Halvey Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Willow Street, Beacon.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, May 29, at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 35 Willow Street, Beacon.
Interment will be Saturday, May 31, 2008, in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Springfield, MA.
