Dorothy "Dottie" F. Edwards died suddenly at Wingate at Beacon on Tuesday, June 1, 2008. She was 83.

Born in Newburgh on March 22, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Jane Decker Cavanaugh Fame and the late John Fame. She was the widow of Taylor Edwards, who predeceased her in 1977. She was also predeceased by her loving friend, Nicholas Magure, who died in 2003.

Dorothy retired from the State of New York, working for both the Unemployment and Motor Vehicle Departments. She also worked at Schoonmaker’s Department Store.

Survivors include many nieces and nephews, including Linda Fame Cavanaugh and Jane Bock Miller, both of Newburgh, who spent many precious hours with her in her final hours. She was predeceased by her sisters, Marian Fame Becker, Jean Cavanaugh Bock, Helen Cavanaugh O’Rourke Pascoe, and Florence Cavanaugh Sherman and her brothers, John "Jack" Fame and Joseph Fame.

The family would like to acknowledge Linda Pinkhardt for her loyal devotion and friendship to Dottie for the last several years.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 2, 2007, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Halvey Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Willow Street, Beacon.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, July 3, at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 31 Willow Street, Beacon.

Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Windsor Highway, New Windsor, NY.
