Norma J. Moranski


Norma J. Moranski, a lifelong Beacon resident, died Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie. She was 53.

Born in Beacon on September 23, 1954, she was the daughter of Francis J. and Paulita D. Root Moranski.

She was a secretary for the Department of Corrections at Fishkill Correctional Facility, Beacon, for thirty-four years.

She is survived by her sons, Jesse Moranski and Kevin Battle, and her daughter, Kayla Battle, all of Beacon; her siblings, Joseph Moranski and his wife, Jeanne, North Carolina, Christine Schepers, Beacon, Susan Moranski, Beacon, Francis E. Moranski and his wife, Carol, Greenwich, NY, Peter J. Moranski and his wife, Patricia, Fishkill, Donna M. Barr and her husband, Walter, Wallkill, Judith O. Moranski, Beacon, and Mary H. Moranski and her partner, Bernhardt Schmadtke, Beacon; several nieces and nephews, and several grandnieces and grandnephews.

The family will receive their friends on Sunday, July 6, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Halvey Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Willow Street, Beacon.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, July 7, at 10 a.m. at St. Joachim's Church, 57 Leonard Street, Beacon.

Interment will follow in St. Joachim's Cemetery, 303 Washington Avenue, Beacon.

Donations in memory of Norma may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2678 South Rd., Suite 102, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
