Gerald W. Lenahan


Gerald W. Lenahan, a longtime Beacon resident, died Sunday, July 6, 2008, at his home in Beacon. He was 73.

Born in Peekskill on November 1, 1934, he was the son of Leo and Dorothy Kent Lenahan. He married Janet E. Conklin on July 21, 1961 in Peekskill. Mrs. Lenahan survives at home.

Mr. Lenahan worked for New York Central Railroad and later as a senior electrician at the former Texaco Research Center in Glenham. He was a US Air Force veteran. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Hyde Park and the American Legion Post, Beacon. He was a parishioner of St. Joachim-St. John the Evangelist Church, Beacon.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Gerry S. Lenahan, Pleasant Valley, and three grandchildren, Jason, Devon, and Shelby Lenahan. He was predeceased by his daughter, Eleane Lenahan, in 1962.

The family will receive their friends on Thursday, July 10, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Halvey Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Willow Street, Beacon. The American Legion will meet for services at 7 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, July 11, at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 35 Willow Street, Beacon. Interment with military honors will follow in Assumption Cemetery, Oregon Road, Cortlandt Manor.

Memorial donations may be made to Dutchess County SPCA, 636 Violet Avenue, Hyde Park, NY 12538-1864, or Hospice of Dutchess County, 374 Violet Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601-1034.
