Jennie Theresa Romanelli passed away peacefully at home on October 1, 2008, surrounded by her family. She was 89.

She was born on January 19, 1919 to Biagio and Delizia Failla. She married Leonard Romanelli on November 18, 1945, the brother of her best friend (still to this day), now her sister-in-law, Mary Collins. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Leonard Romanelli, Jr., Beacon; her grandson, Leonard Louis Romanelli, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Jennie attended Beacon High School, receiving her GED while working at IBM. She retired in December 1977. She was a parishioner of St. Joachim-St. John the Evangelist Church and a member of St. John-St. Joachim’s Seniors.

She loved to spend time with her family and friends. Her home was always open and it was her joy to cook and bake for all who came by. Her father was a baker from Italy. Her mother was a master seamstress who taught tailoring to students in Italy. Jennie and Leonard loved to travel and spent many winters in Florida and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

The family will receive their friends on Friday, October 3, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Halvey Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Willow Street, Beacon.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 12 noon on Saturday, October 4, at St. John the Evangelist Church, 31 Willow Street, Beacon.

Interment will follow in St. Joachim’s Cemetery, 303 Washington Avenue, Beacon.
