Paul J. Banick, Jr.
Paul J. Banick, Jr., a lifelong Beacon resident, died Tuesday, October 28, 2008, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie. He was 48.
Born in Cold Spring on May 9, 1960, he was the son of Paul J. and Jenny (Jean) Sutherland Banick, who both survive in Greenacres, FL. He is also survived by his beloved daughter, Jessica Lynn Banick, Laurens, NY; his brothers, Howard H. “Tony” Banick, Beacon, and David M. Banick and his wife, Dawn, Matthews, NC; his loving maternal grandmother, Rose M. Tompkins, West Palm Beach, FL; and his niece and nephew, Bailey and Brady Banick.
Paul was a retired teamster with Local #456, an avid sportsman, and was a US Marine Corps veteran. He also was a member of Carmen Ramputi Marine Corps Detachment #861, St. Rocco Society, and Elks BPOE #1493, all of Beacon, and Wiccopee Rod and Gun Club.
The family will receive their friends on Thursday, October 30, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Halvey Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Willow Street, Beacon. Handicap access to the funeral home is via Oak Street.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Friday, October 31, at St. Joachim’s Church, 51 Leonard Street, Beacon.
Interment with military honors will follow in St. Joachim’s Cemetery, 303 Washington Avenue, Beacon.
