David R. Fulvio
David R. Fulvio, a longtime Beacon resident, died Monday, March 23, 2009, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie. He was 84.
Born in Bronx, NY on June 5, 1924, he was the son of David and Julia Stella Fulvio. He and his family moved to Beacon in 1938. On August 15, 1948, he married the former Nancy Lopez at St. Mary’s Church, Wappingers Falls. Mrs. Fulvio survives at home in Beacon.
Mr. Fulvio retired as a Project Manager in Purchasing at IBM, Poughkeepsie, and was a parishioner of St. Joachim-St. John the Evangelist Church, Beacon. He was a World War II veteran, enlisting in the Army Air Corps on December 7, 1942, where he participated in campaigns in Naples, Foggia, and Rome. He was one of seven left of the 312th and was very proud to attend the reunion each year as it was very important to him to keep history alive. He was a past President of both St. Rocco Society and Southern Dutchess Country Club and a 59 year member of Trinity Council #445, Knights of Columbus, Beacon, where he was an honorary Life Member.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Beverly DeCaro, Frederick, MD; his sister, Beatrice Donofrio, Beacon; four grandchildren, Stephanie White, Austin, TX, Kara Bennett, Queensbury, NY, Francesca Romans, Austin, TX, and Julianne DeCaro, Frederick, MD; six great grandchildren, Madison and Avery Phillips, Austin, TX, Matthew, Isabella, and Michael Bennett, Queensbury, NY, and David Romans, Austin, TX, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Marie Kline, his sister, Stella Pulcastro, and his brother, Domenic Fulvio.
The family will receive their friends at Halvey Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Willow Street, Beacon on Thursday, March 26, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Trinity Council K of C will meet at 7:30 p.m. for services. Handicap access to the funeral home is via Oak Street.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Friday, March 27, at St. John the Evangelist Church, 35 Willow Street, Beacon. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Wappingers Falls, NY.
