Dr. Louis E. Ruidisch, Jr. entered into rest on Sunday, April 5, 2009, at his home in Fishkill. He was 95. A resident of the Beacon-Fishkill area since 1940, he was born to Louis Edward and Lillie Kloster Ruidisch on May 31, 1913 in Toledo, Ohio. On January 24, 1948, he married the former Roberta G. Goodwin in the Monroe Street Methodist Church, Toledo. Mrs. Ruidisch predeceased him on October 31, 2006.

He was a graduate of Scott High School in Toledo and earned his Bachelors, Masters, and PhD degrees in chemical engineering at Ohio State University. He was employed at the Texaco Research Center, Glenham, where he was credited with several process patents. He retired as a senior research chemical engineer after thirty-eight years of service. During World War II, he participated in defense research organized under the Office of Scientific Research and Development through the National Defense Research Committee. He was a member of both the American Chemical Society and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers for over fifty years. He was a longtime member of Christ Church United Methodist, Beacon.

Dr. Ruidisch is survived by his daughter, Darlene Resling and her husband, William, Fishkill; his son, Louis E. Ruidisch III, Fishkill; a brother-in-law, Richard Goodwin and his wife, Nancy, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a sister, Eleanor Cox, in 1995.

The family will receive their friends on Wednesday, April 8, 2009, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Halvey Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Willow Street, Beacon.

A funeral service will be held at Christ United Methodist Church, 60 Union Street at Phillips Street, Beacon, at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 9, with Pastor Tony Beck officiating.

Interment will follow in Fishkill Rural Cemetery, 2296 Route 9, Fishkill, NY.
