Isabel K. Corrado
Isabel K. Corrado, a lifelong area resident, died Sunday, April 12, 2009, at Lutheran Care Center, Poughkeepsie. She was 88.
Born in Bannerman in the Town of Fishkill on August 29, 1920, she was the daughter of Salvatore and Eleanor Chiarella Scalzo. She married Ralph A. Corrado, who preceded her in death on June 19, 1987. Mrs. Corrado was a bookkeeper for Beacon Roofing Company. She was a member of Court Liberatta, Catholic Daughters of America, Beacon, and was a former member of St. Francis of Assisi Lodge #2629, Sons of Italy, Beacon. She was named Senior Health Volunteer of the Year by the Hudson Valley District of New York State Health Facilities Association when she was 75. She was a parishioner of St. John the Evangelist-St. Joachim Church, Beacon.
Mrs. Corrado is survived by two sons, Robert Corrado and his wife, Michele, Slingerlands, NY, and Ronald P. Corrado and his wife, Loretta, Wappingers Falls; one daughter, Sue D’Angelo and her husband, John, Verbank; her sister, Lorraine Koscal and her husband, John, Beacon; six grandchildren, Lisa, Taryn, Cameron, Johnny, Jessica, and Justine; two great grandchildren, Caeden and Abrielle; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Salvatore “Joy” and Anthony “Cooter” Scalzo, and a sister, Ramona Scalzo.
The family will receive their friends on Thursday, April 16, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Halvey Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Willow Street, Beacon. Members of Court Liberatta will meet for services at 3 p.m. Handicap access to the funeral home is via Oak Street.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 17, at St. John the Evangelist, 35 Willow Street, Beacon.
Interment will follow in St. Joachim’s Cemetery, 303 Washington Avenue, Beacon.
