Barbara A. Maher, a longtime Beacon resident, died Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh Campus. She was 75.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of Charles and Anna May Williams. She was married to John A. Maher, who preceded her in death on September 27, 2000. She was an Avon Representative for thirteen years.

Mrs. Maher is survived by her children, Wayne Maher and his wife, Lisa, Newburgh, Shannon Verdile and her husband, David, Beacon; and Timothy Maher and his wife, Olani, Wappingers Falls; seven grandchildren, Wayne and Anthony Maher, Heather Gaspar, Jonathan Verdile, and Kai, Paige, and Evan Maher; two great grandchildren, Noah and Scarlet Gaspar; and a cousin, Patricia LaPort, San Diego, CA.

The family will receive their friends on Friday, May 1 , from 6 to 9 p.m. at Halvey Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Willow Street at Oak, Beacon. A funeral service will be held during calling hours. Handicap access to the funeral home is via Oak Street.

Interment of Mrs. Maher’s cremains will be Monday, May 4, at 2 p.m. at Fishkill Rural Cemetery, 801 Rote 9, Fishkill, NY.
