Robert J. Horton
Robert J. Horton passed away at home in the loving care of his wife, Phyllis. He was 72.
Born in Beacon on August 25, 1936, he was the son of Phillip and Theresa Bossing Horton. He married the former Phyllis DeNicolais on May 15, 1960 at St. Joachim’s Church, Beacon. Mrs. Horton survives at home.
He was a US Air Force veteran, serving from 1954 to 1957.
Mr. Horton was the owner of Horton Plumbing and Heating, Beacon, since 1972. He was a parishioner of St. Joachim-St. John the Evangelist Church, Beacon. He was a member of St. Rocco’s Society, Trinity Council #445, Knights of Columbus, and Elks BPOE #1493, Beacon. He was also one of the founders of Beacon Pop Warner Football.
In addition to his wife, Phyllis, at home, he is survived by mother, Theresa Horton Laidlaw, Beacon; his two daughters, Pamela LeeAnn Chiera and her husband, Frank, Pawling, and Amy Marie Johnson and her husband, Raymond, Pawling; his sister, Phyllis Musacchio, Beacon; two grandsons, Alexander Robert Chiera and Austin Johnson; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Claire McMillen.
The family will receive their friends on Sunday, May 10, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Halvey Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Willow Street, Beacon. Handicap access is via Oak Street.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, May 11, at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 35 Willow Street, Beacon.
Interment will follow in St. Joachim’s Cemetery, 303 Washington Avenue, Beacon.
He will be forever loved for his kindness and devotion to his family and friends. God bless you, Bob. His family is grateful for the care and compassion shown by Hospice.
