M/Sgt. Scott G. Badgley
Master Sergeant Scott G. Badgley, an active duty United States Marine, living in Horsham, PA, died Saturday, May 9, 2009, in Abington Hospital, Abington Township, PA.
Born in Poughkeepsie on May 9, 1971, he was the son of David J. and Janice C. Sengenberger Badgley, who survive in Kannapolis, NC.
Following his entry into the Marine Corps in 1991, Master Sergeant Badgley served as a Logistics Chief aboard Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, NC and Andrews Air Force Base in Washington, DC. Eventually moving up to the billet of Logistics Chief, M/Sgt Badgley continued his career with tours in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; Miramar, CA, Norfolk, VA, and Willow Grove, PA. During his career, M/Sgt Badgley served numerous tours at sea and deployed in other countries abroad.
M/Sgt Badgley’s personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2nd award), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2nd award), Humanitarian Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Service Medal (2nd award), Armed Forces Service Medal, NATO Medal (2nd award), Kuwait Liberation Medal (Kuwait), Southwest Asia Service Medal, and the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal (5th award).
In addition to his parents, M/Sgt. Badgley is survived by his ex-wife, Stacey Badgley, Virginia Beach, VA.; his sons, Garrett and Ryan Badgley, both of Virginia Beach,VA; one brother, CW Steven D. Badgley, deployed with the US Army in Iraq; and a nephew, Manson G. Badgley.
The family will receive their friends on Friday, May 15, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Halvey Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Willow Street, Beacon.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 16, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will follow in Fishkill Rural Cemetery, 2296 Route 9, Fishkill, NY.
