Margarita E. Mesa
Margarita E. Mesa, a resident of Beacon, died Sunday, May 24, 2009, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie. She was 63.
Born in Angostura, Colombia, she was the daughter of Luis Mesa and Gabriela Davila. She married Emil Acevedo, who survives at home in Beacon.
Margarita was employed by Elant at Fishkill and was a parishioner of St. Joachim-St. John the Evangelist Church, Beacon.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Claudia Vahey and her husband, Thomas P. Vahey, Nanuet, Jorge Acevedo and his wife, Colleen, Sinking Springs, PA, and Diego Acevedo and his fiancée, Katie Patton, San Francisco, CA; a grandson, Aidan J. Acevedo; two sisters, Lucy Hernandez and Nodier Mesa, both of Colombia, South America; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Rodrigo Mesa, and her sisters, Graciela Mesa, Carina Mesa, and Lilia Mesa.
The family will receive their friends on Wednesday, May 27, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Halvey Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Willow Street, Beacon. Handicap access to the funeral home is via Oak Street.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, May 28, at 10 a.m. at St. John’s, 35 Willow Street, Beacon.
Interment will follow in St. Joachim’s Cemetery, 303 Washington Avenue, Beacon.
