Eugene I. Boss, a longtime Beacon resident, died Thursday, August 6, 2009, at his home in St. Cloud, FL. He was 83.

Born in Mount Kisco, NY on September 27, 1925, he was the son of Irving W. and Helen P. Hodge Boss. He married the former Jeneva I. DeRosie. Mrs. Boss survives at home. Mr. Boss owned Eugene Boss Excavating in Beacon.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his stepdaughters, Terry Prior, St. Petersburg, VA, Iva Kaltz, S. Barre, VT, and Karen Light, Wyoming, MI; his brothers, David Boss, Beacon, and Carl Boss, Hopewell Junction; his sisters, Frances Henry, Fishkill, Carol Anderson, Fishkill, and Dora Russell, Poughkeepsie; numerous grandchildren, step grandchildren, one step great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Janet Bopp.

The family will receive their friends on Wednesday, August 12, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Halvey Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Willow Street, Beacon.

A funeral service will be Thursday, August 13, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Kenneth Wonderland officiating.

Interment will follow in Fishkill Rural Cemetery, 801 Route 9, Fishkill.
