Maureen A. MacDonald


Maureen A. MacDonald died Saturday, August 8, 2009, at her home in Beacon. She was 84. She was born in Beacon on June 16, 1925, the daughter of the late Gerald E. and Marion C. MacDonald.

She was a graduate of Beacon High School. She attended the Knox School in Cooperstown, NY and was a graduate of Katherine Gibbs in New York City. She was employed by Readers Digest International Editions and retired as Assistant Promotion Manager after 35 years of service. She was a member of the Southern Dutchess Country Club, Beacon Historical Society, and St. Francis Hospital, Beacon, Auxiliary. She was a volunteer at St. Francis Hospital, Beacon, Blodgett Memorial Library, Fishkill, and the Howland Library Book Store.

Miss MacDonald is survived by her brothers, Gerald E. MacDonald, Jr. and Ian G. MacDonald, both of Beacon; her nieces, Susan MacDonald, and Sarah Mumm, Cambridge, MA; and her nephew, Ian S. MacDonald, Fishkill.

The family will receive their friends on Tuesday, August 11, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Halvey Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Willow Street, Beacon.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 12, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

Interment will follow in St. Joachim’s Cemetery, Beacon.
