Barbara A. Trochan


Barbara A. Trochan, a resident of Beacon, entered into rest Friday, August 21, 2009 at her home. She was 66.

Daughter of Josephine Merges Myers and the late Joseph Myers, she was born November 9, 1942 in Poughkeepsie. Her mother, Josephine Myers survives in Wappingers Falls.

On October 22, 1966 at St. Mary’s Church, Wappingers Falls she married George A. Trochan. He preceded her in death on August 12, 1991.

Barbara was a parishioner of St. Joachim-St. John the Evangelist Church, Beacon and was a member of the Degree of Pocahontas, 224 Tioronda Council.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her two daughters, Rose Marie Varas and her husband, Patrick of Beacon and Susan Craig and her husband, Colin of Fanwood, New Jersey; her grandchildren, Jonathan, Amanda and James Varas and Rachael and Colleen Craig; and her nephew, Richard Kinghorn of Wappingers Falls. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her sister, M. Kathy Kinghorn.

Family will receive their friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at Halvey Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Willow Street, Beacon. Members of the Degree of Pocahontas will meet for services at 7:30 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 am on Wednesday, August 26 at St. John the Evangelist, Willow Street, Beacon. Interment will follow in St. Joachim’s Cemetery, Washington Avenue, Beacon.
