Philomena T. “Minnie” Lacey


Philomena T. “Minnie” Lacey, a lifelong Beacon resident, died Sunday, August 30, 2009, at St. Francis Hospital, Poughkeepsie. She was 87.

Born in Beacon on January 30, 1922, she was the daughter of John and Raffaela DeAngelo Yanarella. She married John G. Lacey, who preceded her in death in 1961. She was retired from the former Texaco Research Center, Glenham. She was a parishioner of St. Joachim-St. John the Evangelist Church, Beacon and was a member of Slater Chemical Firehouse Ladies Auxiliary, Glenham, and the Texaco Retirees Club.

Mrs. Lacey is survived by her daughter, Georgianna Garrison and her husband, Thomas, Pleasant Valley; her brother, Ernest Yanarella, Beacon; her sisters, Pauline Mendoza, Beacon, Anna Marie Adach, Gloversville, NY, and Antoinette Knight, North Carolina; her four grandchildren, Kelly Kihlmire-Caudill and her husband, David, Bristol, CT, Kimberly Kihlmire, Poughkeepsie, John Kihlmire, Beacon, and Matthew Garrison, Yonkers; and two great grandchildren, Hayden and Riley Caudill. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Diana Kihlmire, her brothers, Joseph and John Yanarella, her sister, Connie Maskiewicz, and her longtime companion, John Poilucci.

The family will receive their friends on Tuesday, September 1, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Halvey Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Willow Street, Beacon.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 2, at St. John’s, 35 Willow Street, Beacon. Interment will follow in St. Joachim’s Cemetery, 303 Washington Avenue, Beacon.
