Joyce A. Lennon
Joyce A. Lennon, a resident of Beacon for over forty-five years and formerly of Yonkers, passed away on Sunday, September 6, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Newburgh. She was 77.
Born in Yonkers on March 2, 1932, she was the daughter of Jacob and Maude Lawton Nauman. On August 25, 1951, she married Robert F. Lennon, Jr., who preceded her in death on January 8, 1997.
Joyce was affectionately known was the "A&P Lady", where she worked as a cashier for many years. She was also a dental hygienist for Dr. Joseph Taddune. She will be remembered for her great sense of humor and her love of laughter.
Mrs. Lennon is survived by her son, Kevin T. Lennon, and his wife, Kimberly Bradley-Lennon, Beacon; her granddaughter and light of her life, Autumn Rose Lennon, Beacon; her daughter-in-law, Mary E. Lennon, Cambridge, NY; her sister, Edna Howell, Carmel; her brother, Jacob Nauman, North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her older son, Robert F. Lennon III, who died July 17, 2006.
The family will receive their friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, September 9, at Halvey Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Willow Street, Beacon. Handicap access is via Oak Street.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 10, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
Interment will follow in Fishkill Rural Cemetery, 801 Route 9, Fishkill.
The family would like to thank St. Luke’s Hospital and Vassar Brothers Medical Center for their compassionate and caring staff as well as Beacon Volunteer Ambulance Corps and City of Beacon Fire Department, especially Lewis Tompkins Hose Company, for their countless visits.
