Louis Pucino


Louis Pucino, a lifelong Beacon resident, died Friday, September 11, 2009 at Elant at Fishkill. He was 98.

Born in Beacon, New York on June 15, 1911, he was the son of Nicholas and Rosina Farrigno Pucino. He married the former Connie Penzetta on September 25, 1932 in St. John the Evangelist Church. She predeceased him on January 3, 2004. He was a parishioner of St. Joachim-St. John the Evangelist Church, Beacon.

Since his retirement as a railroad supervisor with the former New York Central Railroad, he operated a barber business in Fishkill. He spent much of his time in his vegetable garden, vacationing with his wife in Fort Myers, FL, and sport fishing with his son. He will always be remembered for his love of family and boundless energy.

He is survived by his daughter, Rose Ellis, and his son, Nicholas Pucino and his wife, Josephine; grandchildren, Dennis Ellis and his wife, Lisa, Cherie Faour, Karen Dexter and her husband, Tim, Cynthia Mumby and her husband, Robert, Lisa Ryan and her husband, Michael, and Lynn Biehl and her husband, Phillip. He is also survived by his great grandchildren, Dennis, Amber, Alicia and her husband, Kieth, Sarah and her husband, Eric, Heather and her husband, Ronald, John-Paul and Dennis; Timothy, Kristen, and Chelsea; John and Grace; Michael and his father, Brian, Grace and Abbey Rose; Brendon, John and Marybeth; two great great grandchildren, Ava Rose and Michael, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, Louis was predeceased by his sisters, Mary Cize, Rita Navarro, Anna Burnside, Stella Pucino, Rose Pacione, and his brothers, Anthony, Frank, and Henry Pucino.

Louis’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and aides and the rehab and activities personnel for their care of "papa" during his stay at Elant. Thanks also the volunteers.

The family will receive their friends on Monday, September 14, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Halvey Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Willow Street, Beacon. Handicap access is via Oak Street.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, September 15, at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist, 35 Willow Street, Beacon.

Interment will follow in St. Joachim’s Cemetery, 303 Washington Avenue, Beacon.
