Joseph M. Brennan, a longtime Beacon resident, died Wednesday, December 23, 2009, at St. Luke’s-Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh. He was 88.

Born in Poughkeepsie on January 15, 1921, he was the son of Michael and Margaret Delahoyle Brennan. He retired as a Correctional Officer at Green Haven Correctional Facility, Stormville. He was a parishioner of St. Joachim-St. John the Evangelist Church, Beacon.

He is survived by his lifelong companion, Heidi Urciuoli, Beacon; his stepson, George Urciuoli and his wife, Regina; and step grandchildren, Josh and Courtney Urciuoli.

The family will receive their friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, December 28, at Halvey Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Willow Street, Beacon. Handicap access is via Oak Street.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, December 29, at 10 a.m. at St. John’s, 31 Willow Street, Beacon.

Interment will follow in St. Joachim’s Old Cemetery, Beacon.
