George D. Verdile
George D. Verdile, a longtime Beacon resident, died Monday, April 26, 2010, at VanRensselaer Manor, Troy, NY. He was 82.
Born in Beacon on February 21, 1928, he was the son of George F. and Margaret Izzi Verdile. He married the former Marguerite Salvas, who preceded him in death on July 22, 2002.
Mr. Verdile retired as an electrician at the former Nabisco in Beacon. He attended St. Lawrence Friary, Beacon. He was a life member of Lewis Tompkins Hose Company and was a former member of St. Rocco’s.
He is survived by one son, Stephen G. Verdile and his wife, Eva, Clovis, NM; three daughters, Deborah A. Verdile, Albuquerque, NM, Bernadette LaJeunesse and her husband, Richard, Troy, and Pamela Mariani and her husband, Richard, Newtown, CT; her sister, Virginia Morgese and her husband, Michael, Beacon; four grandchildren, Sarah LaJuenesse, and Jennifer, Nicholas, and Richard Mariani; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive their friends on Friday, April 30, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Halvey Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Willow Street, Beacon.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 1, at St. John the Evangelist Church, 31 Willow Street, Beacon.
Interment will follow in St. Joachim’s Cemetery, 303 Washington Avenue, Beacon.
