Nancy Mary Piccone

Nancy Mary Piccone, 95, a life-long Beacon resident, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2010 at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital – Newburgh, surrounded by her family.

She was born in Chelsea, New York on November 3, 1914, to the late Fidelis and Mary Antonucci Mattracion.

Nancy met her future husband, Frank A. Piccone, Sr. while both were employed at the National Biscuit Company. During the Second World War Nancy was a seamstress at Aero Leather Company sewing bomber jackets. Frank and Nancy were married April 1, 1932 in Beacon, New York. After over fifty years of marriage, Frank predeceased Nancy on December 5, 1987.

Nancy was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church. She enjoyed sewing, baking, gardening and her family. She was happiest tending to her flowers and her tomatoes. Her lush garden and hydrangeas were the envy of the neighborhood. She loved golf, playing well into her eighties as well as the New York Yankees and never missed a chance to watch a game or a match on television.

Nancy is survived by her son, Ronald J. Piccone and his wife Anne, Beacon; their children, Joleen Piccone, Beacon; her children, James Wesley Moran and Falon Moran; Ronald J. “Jamie” Piccone II and his wife Kimberly, Pawling; their children, Nicholas, Alessandra, Danielle, Christopher and Julianna; Janelle Styles and her husband Steven, Lagrangeville; their son, Graeme. She is also survived by a grandson, Joseph Piccone, Chatugay, NY; his daughter Amanda; her sisters, Jean Wolkowitz and Emily Degelormo; her brother, Philip Mattracion; and many nieces and nephews. Nancy was predeceased by her son, Frank A. Piccone, Jr.; his children, Frank A. III, Deborah, Susan, Nancy, and Mary Lou; her brothers, George, Anthony, Joseph, Dominick; and her sister, Francis.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, June 25, at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 31 Willow Street, Beacon.

Interment will follow in St. Joachim’s Cemetery, 303 Washington Avenue, Beacon.
