Lillian R. Meehan, a longtime Beacon resident died Sunday, July 4, 2010, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie. She was 97.

Born in New York City on September 14, 1912, she was the daughter of Thomas and Rose Mulligan. On March 2, 1933, she married Patrick H. Meehan at St. John the Evangelist Church. He preceded her in death in 1974. Mrs. Meehan retired as a cook from IBM in East Fishkill.

Nanny, who was an intricate part of her whole family and loved by everyone, is survived by her son, Kerry P. Meehan, Garrison; her daughter, Sharon R. Nevins, Beacon; her five grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; her three nephews, Arthur Johnson, Maryland, Bruce Mulligan, Sacramento, CA, and Jack Mulligan, Florida; her niece, Judy Dempsey, Walden. She was predeceased by her brothers, Joseph, William, and Thomas Mulligan; her sister, Rita Johnson; her nephews, James and Joseph Mulligan, and one great grandchild.

The family will receive their friends on Wednesday, July 7, from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9 p.m. at Halvey Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Willow Street, Beacon.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 8, at St. Joachim Church, 51 Leonard Street, Beacon.

Interment will follow in St. Joachim’s Cemetery, 303 Washington Avenue, Beacon.

Funeral arrangements are under the supervision of Peter T. and Patrick J. Halvey.
