Elsie M. Cohen
Elsie M. Cohen, a resident of Fishkill, died Monday, October 11, 2010 at her home. She was 81.
Born in the Bronx on January 28, 1929, she was the daughter of Charles and Elsie Meyerbeck Simmons. Elsie was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and its Women’s Group. She was a volunteer at Elant at Fishkill.
Elsie is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Cohen Bachand, Wallkill; her brothers, Paul Simmons, Long Island and John Simmons, Florida; her grandchildren, David Cohen and his wife, Heidi, Daniel Cohen, Nina Regan and her husband, Ed and Benjamin Bachand; her great grandchildren, Ethan, Ryan, Zachary and Lucas Cohen.
In addition to her parents, Elsie was predeceased by her husband, Benjamin “Barney” Cohen and her son, Walter A. Cohen.
A Memorial Service celebrating the life of Elsie will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at Christ United Methodist Church, 60 Union Street at Phillips Street, Beacon, NY.
Memorial Donations in memory of Elsie may be made to any local humane society.
Funeral arrangements are under the supervision of Peter T. and Patrick J. Halvey.
