Lucia M. Pitts passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at Pope John Paul II Rehab Center in Danbury, CT. She was 90.
Born in Beacon on July 19, 1920, Lucia was the daughter of Cesidio and Mariannina DiCamillo D’Aprile. Lucia was a member of the Italian American Club in Florida and a former member of Catholic Daughters Court Liberatta, Beacon.
Lucia is survived by her children, William Pitts and his wife, Donna, Wappingers Falls, Richard Pitts and his wife, Rosemary, Cornelius, NC and Lucia O’Hara and her husband, Stephen, Danbury, CT; her brothers, Cornelius, Raymond and Vincent D’Aprile; her sisters, Gilda D’Aprile and Mary D’Aprile; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and expecting another in July; several nieces and nephews.
Lucia was predeceased by her husband, William J. Pitts; her son, Raymond Pitts; her sisters, Anne D’Aprile, Edith Olympia and Edna Crossetta.
The family will receive their friends on Monday, May 9, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Halvey Funeral Home, Inc, 24 Willow Street, Beacon.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, May 10 at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 31 Willow Street, Beacon.
Entombment will follow in the Community Mausoleum at Cedar Hill Cemetery, 5468 Route 9W North, Newburgh.
Memorial Donations in memory of Lucia may be made to either the Pope John Paul II Rehab Center, 33 Lincoln Avenue, Danbury Connecticut 06810 or to Ridgefield Visiting Nurse Association, 90 East Ridge Avenue, Ridgefield, Connecticut 06877.
Funeral arrangements are under the supervision of Peter T. and Patrick J. Halvey.
