|Cornelius J. D'Aprile
Cornelius J. D’Aprile, a lifelong Beacon resident, passed away at the Kaplan Family Hospice Residence, Newburgh on July 29, 2011. He was 99.
Born in Beacon on March 2, 1912, Cornelius was the son of Cesidio and Mariannina DiCamillo D’Aprile. He married the former Ada V. Lupparelli. Mrs. D’Aprile predeceased Cornelius on August 26, 1987. Cornelius was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and a lover of life and avid outdoorsman. Cornelius proudly served his country during World War II in the Navy. Cornelius worked as a printer at the National Biscuit Company in Beacon. He was a parishioner of St. Joachim – St. John the Evangelist Church, member of Trinity Council # 445, Beacon, W.H. Mase Hook and Ladder Company, Beacon, a life member of the East Hook Sportsmen Association, member of the Beacon Boat Club and Cold Spring Boat Club and the National Ski Patrol.
Cornelius is survived by his son, Ronald J. D’Aprile and his wife, Elaine of Newburgh; his brothers, Raymond D’Aprile of Wappingers and Vincent D’Aprile of Kingston; his sisters, Mary D’Aprile and Gilda D’Aprile, both of Beacon; two grandchildren, Arielle and Allison D’Aprile and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Cornelius was predeceased by his four sisters, Edna Crossetta, Edith Olympia, Anne D’Aprile and Lucia Pitts.
The family will receive their friends on Monday, August 1, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Halvey Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Willow Street, Beacon.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at 11 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 31 Willow Street, Beacon.
Entombment will follow at Cedar Hill Community Mausoleum, 5468 Route 9W North, Newburgh, New York.
Memorial Donations in memory of Cornelius may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
Funeral arrangements are under the supervision of Peter T. and Patrick J. Halvey.
