Virginia L. Alyea
Virginia L. Alyea, a lifelong Beacon resident, passed away at her residence on Sunday, January 15, 2012. She was 96.
Born in Beacon on January 23, 1915 Virginia was the daughter of George C. and Lillian MacAvery Alyea. Virginia retired as a schoolteacher at South Avenue School in Beacon. She was a parishioner of St. Joachim – St. John the Evangelist Church, a member of the St. Francis Ladies Auxiliary in Beacon, a member of the Southern Dutchess Country Club, member of the New York State Retired Teachers Association and the Dutchess County Retired Teachers Association.
Virginia is survived by her sisters, Marion Alyea of Beacon and Ann Hussey of Huntington, New York; her nephews, Robert and Jeffrey Hussey; her nieces, Donna Alyea, Elizabeth Hussey White and Nancy Alyea Schuville.
Virginia was predeceased by her brother, William Alyea and her sisters, Maxine Alyea and Peg Alyea.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 20, 2012 at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 31 Willow Street, Beacon.
Interment will follow at Fishkill Rural Cemetery, 801 Route 9, Fishkill.
Memorial Donations in memory of Virginia may be made to St. Joachim – St. John the Evangelist Church, 2 Oak Street, Beacon, New York 12508.
Funeral arrangements are under the supervision of Peter T. and Patrick J. Halvey.
