Marguerite Basinski
Retired Sweethome Attendance Officer
Marguerite "Peggy" (nee Sweeney) Basinski, age 81, of the Town of Tonawanda, died Saturday, October 18, 2008, at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, after a long illness. Born in Buffalo, she was the daughter of the late John and Helen (nee Young) Sweeney and was a resident of Tonawanda for the greater part of her life. Mrs. Basinski was the attendance officer at Sweethome Middle School before retiring in 2000. She was the wife of the late Edward R. Basinski, who died in 1979.
She is survived by four sons, John (late Alexandra) Basinski of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Paul (Rene) Basinski of Houston, Texas, Thomas (Judith) Basinski of Getzville, New York, and Philip (Judy Izard) Basinski of Pendleton, New York; a sister, Patricia Creighton of Binghamton, New York; and three grandchildren, Alex, Ed and Catie. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 7-9 PM on Wednesday, November 5, at the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam and Seymour Streets in Tonawanda. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 AM Thursday at St. Christopher R.C. Church on Niagara Falls Blvd. in the Town of Tonawanda. Friends invited. Interment will be cared for privately at White Chapel Memorial Park, Town of Amherst.
