Eleanor J. Heron
Member of Tonawanda Senior Citizens
Eleanor (nee Swartz) Heron, age 78, of Tonawanda, died Friday, November 7, 2008 at Elderwood at Heathwood, after a long illness. Born in Erie, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late John and Katherine (nee Gronko) Swartz. Mrs. Heron was a resident of Tonawanda for the greater part of her life and a member of St. Christopher Parish and the Tonawanda Senior Citizens. She was the wife of the late George W. Heron, who died December 25, 2000.
She is survived by her son, George (Debra) Heron of Baltimore, Maryland; two daughters, Terry (Allen Zale) Heron of Kenmore, New York and Christine E. Heron of Tampa, Florida; and a brother, William (Marion) Swartz of Lancaster, New York. Also surviving are 3 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Monday only at the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam and Seymour Streets, Tonawanda. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 AM Tuesday at St. Christopher R.C. Church on Niagara Falls Blvd, Town of Tonawanda. Friends invited. If desired, memorials to the American Cancer Society, 101 John James Audubon Parkway, Amherst, NY 14228-1198, are preferred by the family.
