Ann R. Gross

Lifelong Tonawanda Resident

Ann R. Gross, age 77, of Tonawanda, died unexpectedly, Tuesday, December 9, 2008, at her residence. Born in Tonawanda, she was the daughter of the late James and Matilda (nee Garlapo) Gross and had been employed at Marine Midland Bank and then at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Buffalo until retiring in 1998. She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Buffalo where she sang in the choir for 25 years, and Salem United Church of Christ in Tonawanda where she also sang in the choir and had been a Sunday School teacher. Ann loved classical music and was an avid reader who enjoyed crossword puzzles. She loved to travel with her sister, Dorothy, especially cruises and trips to Europe. She was the sister of the late Peter, Robert, Edward, and George Gross, and Judy Frazer.

She is survived by two sisters, Mildred (Charles) Baker and Dorothy Gross; and a brother, Richard (Linda) Gross. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Thursday only at the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam and Seymour Streets, Tonawanda. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Friday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 1080 Main Street in Buffalo. Friends invited. Entombment at Elmlawn Cemetery, Town of Tonawanda. If desired, memorials for the Salem Church Chancel Choir, 114 Morgan Street, Tonawanda, NY 14150, are preferred by the family.
