Raymond I. Peck

Life Member of American Legion

Raymond I. Peck, age 84, of Tonawanda, died Thursday, January 1, 2009 at the NYS Veterans Home in Batavia, after a long illness. Born in Ogden, NY, he was the son of the late Lester and Vivian (nee Mason) Peck and was an Army Veteran of WWII and receipient of the Military Order of the Purple Heart. Mr. Peck had been a resident of Tonawanda for the past 45 years, and was a member of the Tonawanda Church of Christ and the Tonawanda Senior Citizens, and had been a life member of the American Legion, Tonawandas Post No. 264. He was the husband of the late Mary Louise (nee McQuilkin) Peck, who died December 10, 2008.

He is survived by his daughter, Denise (James) Turner of North Tonawanda, New York; two sons, Robert (Rita) Peck of North Carolina and James (Susan) Peck of Florida; and two sisters, Cheryl (Herbert) Voss of Silver Creek, New York and Verona Thompson of North Carolina. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Kathryn, Timothy, Kenneth, Robert Todd, Courtney, and Amanda; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 2-6 PM on Sunday only at the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam and Seymour Streets, Tonawanda. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Monday at Tonawanda Church of Christ, Delaware and Summit Streets in Tonawanda; the Rev. Kenneth Wood officiating. Friends invited. Interment at Elmlawn Cemetery, Town of Tonawanda. If desired, memorials to the NYS Veterans Home, 220 Richmond Avenue, Batavia, NY 14020, are preferred.
