Edward J. Schlick Member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish Edward J. Schlick, age 88, of Amherst, formerly of Tonawanda, died Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at Beechwood Nursing Home, after a brief illness. Born in Bennington, New York, he was the son of the late Frank and Mary (nee Smith) Schlick. He worked for Albert Schlick Trenching in North Tonawanda, before retiring and was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish. He is survived by his wife, Sarah A. (nee Fruck) Schlick; two daughters, Diane (D.J.) Kinton of Cheektowaga, New York, and Barbara (David) Malta of Webster, New York; and a brother, Albert (Millie) Schlick of Florida. Also surviving are two grandsons, Michael and Daniel Malta, and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Thursday only at the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam and Seymour Streets, Tonawanda. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM Friday at St. Francis Chapel on Adam Street in Tonawanda; the Rev. Michael Uebler officiating. Friends invited. Entombment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Town of Tonawanda. If desired, memorials to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 73 Adam Street, Tonawanda, NY 14150, are preferred.
