Thomas J. Phelan, age 75, of Tonawanda, died Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at Kenmore Mercy Hospital after a brief illness. Born in North Tonawanda, he was the son of the late William and Angeline (nee Miliman) Phelan and had been a resident of Tonawanda for more than 15 years. Mr. Phelan was employed as a plant manager for American Diamond Tool in Buffalo before retiring in 1996. He was the husband of the late Barbara (nee Mahoney) Phelan, who died June 9, 1992.
He is survived by two sons, James (Donna) Phelan of Kenmore, New York, and Kenneth Phelan of Wilton, Connecticut; a daughter, Jenifer (Anthony) Thompson of Cazenovia, New York; and a sister, Norma (Sven) Nelson of Lockport, New York. Also surviving are two granddaughters, Carly and Cassidy Phelan, and many nieces and nephews.
There is no visitation. Services were cared for privately followed by interment at Acacia Park Cemetery, Town of Pendleton. If desired, memorials to the Roswell Park Foundation, PO Box 631, Buffalo, NY 14240-0631, or North Tonawanda Meals on Wheels, 100 Ridge Road, North Tonawanda, NY 14120, are preferred by the family. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam and Seymour Streets, Tonawanda.
