Shirley J. Hoppel Retired from Niagara Mohawk Shirley J. Hoppel, age 83, of the Town of Tonawanda, died Friday, June 19, 2009 at her residence, after a brief illness. Born in Buffalo, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Beulah (nee Gress) Hoppel. Miss Hoppel had been employed as a secretary for Niagara Mohawk for more than 40 years before retiring. She is survived by her brother, Richard (Beverly) Hoppel of Tonawanda; a niece, Karen Hoppel of Tonawanda; and a nephew, Keith (Kathleen) Hoppel of Grand Island. Also surviving are two great-nieces, Krystin and Kourtney Hoppel. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Monday only at the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam and Seymour Streets in Tonawanda, where funeral services will be held at 8 PM Monday. Friends invited. If desired, memorials to Camp Good Days and Special Times, 6430 Transit Road, Suite 200, Depew, NY 14043, are preferred by the family.
