Charlie B. Osborne

Charlie B. Osborne, age 88, of North Tonawanda, died Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at Niagara Hospice House, after a long illness. Born in New Zion, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Charlie W. and Margaret (nee Newton) Osborne and was an Army Air Corps Veteran of WWII. A resident of North Tonawanda for the past 40 years, Mr. Osborne was a maintenance supervisor for Construction Industry Employers Association (CIEA) in the Town of Tonawanda until retiring in 1985, and was an avid fisherman. He was the husband of the late Margaret (nee Harris) Osborne and brother of the late Bill Osborne and Louise Prescott.

He is survived by his wife, Marion (Soforic) Osborne; his daughter, Kathy (Don) Smith of Lancaster, South Carolina; his son, Charlie (Joyce) Osborne of Sumter, South Carolina; two step-daughters, Diane (Gary) Popovice of Palmetto, Florida, and Jan (George) Ohar of Wheatfield, New York; a step-son, Ron (Elaine) Soforic of Lockport, New York; two sisters, Ima Lee Jones of Sumter, South Carolina, and Betty (Dave) Lawter of Scottsdale, Arizona; and three sisters-in-law, Delores Osborne of Seminole, Florida, Ora Graham of Parish, Florida, and Lucille Goldsworthy of North Tonawanda, New York. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Services were cared for privately at the convenience of the family. If desired, memorials to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094, are preferred by the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam and Seymour Streets, Tonawanda.
