Helen B. Oliver

Helen (nee Nowak) Oliver, age 82, of Tonawanda, died Monday, August 3, 2009 at her residence, after a brief illness. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Mary (nee Monko) Nowak. A resident of Tonawanda for more than 45 years, she had been employed at the former Gold CircleStore on Maple Road before retiring. She was a member of St. Christopher R. C. Parish and was the wife of the late William Oliver, who died in 1976.

She is survived by her two daughters, Jean Marie (Lance) Fadden of Taneytown, Maryland, and Charla L. Bodie of the Town of Tonawanda; and four sons, James (Cheryl) Oliver of Wheatfield, Douglas L. Oliver of Tonawanda, William (Lynn) Oliver of Tonawanda, and Robert L. Oliver of Wheatfield. One of 15 children, Helen is survived by many brothers and sisters, 16 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and many, many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Wednesday only at the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam and Seymour Streets, Tonawanda. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 AM Thursday at St. Christopher R.C. Church on Niagara Falls Blvd. in Tonawanda. Friends invited. Interment will be cared for privately at Elmlawn Cemetery, Town of Tonawanda. If desired, memorials to Hospice Buffalo, 225 Como Park Blvd., Cheektowaga, NY 14227, are preferred by the family.
