Frances "Tootsie" (nee Cingle) McEldowney, age 72, of Tonawanda, died Sunday, August 2, 2009 at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, after a brief illness. Born in Moshannon, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Verna (nee Skripek) Cingle and had been a resident of Tonawanda for more than 45 years. Mrs. McEldowney had been employed at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, before retiring. She loved to spend time with her grandson, and traveling to Tennessee, Virginia, Myrtle Beach and Florida.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 51 years, Ronald J. McEldowney; her dearest daughters, Cindy (William) Thiebolt of Tonawanda, and Diana (Matthew) Collins of Ashtabula, Ohio; and her loving grandson, Jack "Tator" Collins. Also surviving are her dear sister, Marian (Mike) Krisch of Niagara Falls, and many nieces and nephews.
There is no visitation. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM Saturday, September 12, 2009 at the John Paul II Mausoleum Chapel at St. Joseph's Cemetery, 3806 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls. If desired, memorials to the American Cancer Society, 101 John James Audubon Parkway, Amherst, NY 14228-1198, are preferred by the family.
