Army Veteran of WWII

Albert L. Greno, age 94, of the Town of Tonawanda, died Saturday, October 3, 2009 at Heathwood Health Care Center, after a long illness. Born in North Tonawanda, he was the son of the late Albert and Marguerite (nee Miller) Greno, Sr., and was an Army Veteran of WWII. A resident of the Town of Tonawanda for more than 55 years, he was a member of St. Christopher's Parish and the Knights of Columbus, North Tonawanda Council 2535 for more than 50 years. Mr. Greno had worked in the office at Dunn Real Estate before retiring.

He was the devoted husband of 65 years of Bernardine (nee McSweeney) Greno; loving father of Michael A. Greno of High Point, NC, James (Betsy) Greno of Williamsville, NY, Mary Ann (Paul) Henzler of Bloomfield, CT, and Kathleen (John) Zamer of Atlanta, GA; loving grandfather of nine grandchildren, Elizabeth Sink, Meredith and Alex Greno, Daniel Meyer, Caitlin and Lauren Henzler, and Jason, Kevin and Julie Zamer; and a great-grandson, Andrew Sink. Also surviving are his sister, Ruth Schuber of Rhinelander, WI, and several nieces and nephews; he was predeceased by his sister, Alice Irland.

There is no visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 AM Monday at St. Christopher R.C. Church, 2660 Niagara Falls Blvd. in Tonawanda; the Rev. Charles Slisz officiating. Friends invited. If desired, memorials to St. Christopher's Parish Outreach are preferred. Interment will be cared for privately at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Town of Tonawanda. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam and Seymour Streets, Tonawanda.
