Mrs. Mary Jane (Bowden) Gossett

Mary Jane passed from our world into God's Kingdom early Friday morning February 6, 2009 at her Millington residence. Mary Jane was 74. The family has honored Mary Janes wish and cremation has taken place. Tuesday February 10, 2009 there was a life celebration service at the the Millington United Methodist Church. Pastor Pete Crawford delivered the celebration message and the closing prayers. You're welcome to express condolences, and share memories online by clicking view/send.

Mary Jane Bowden the daughter of Donald L. & Mary A. (Murcko) Bowden was born in Flint MI on July 12, 1934. Mary Jane was married to the late George Gossett who has preceded her in death.

Mary Jane loved life and lived it to the fullest. She will be dearly missed but remembered by all for her passion for life, laughter, and the love for her family and animals. When Mary Jane was a young girl she was president of the Wide Awake Club of the Flint Journal. She raised several breeds of dogs and went to many shows showing her dogs. She raised horses and ponies also taking them to many shows and also raced horses. Mary Jane was a Cub Scout Den Mother, a leader for the 4-H Horse Club. She worked for a brief time at the AC - Spark Plug Division of General Motors. When she left the employment of GM she went to work for the US Postal Service as a Mail Carrier for the Millington Post Office. When she retired from the Postal Service she moved up north to the Tawas & Oscoda area. While up north she did volunteer work for Hospice, FISH, and headed up the N.A.R.F.E for retired federal employee's. In 2006 Mary Jane moved back to MIllington and became very active in the Millington United Methodist Church. She wrote for the church news paper which was one of the many things she did for the church.
Mary Jane leaves two daughters and a son in-law Cindy & Bob Ramsey Cheryl Long & friend Jim Forsyth. Two sons and daughters in-law; Don & Loretta Gossett, and Jack & Tracie Gossett. Grandchildren; Jason & Laura Long, Cherie Coopersmith, and Heather & Rachel Gossett. Two great grandchildren Leigha & Craig Coopersmith. Mary Jane leaves as well several aunts, cousins and other extended family and many friends. Memorial Gifts of Remembrance can be directed to the Millington United Methodist Church or to any animal rescue center for pets/humane society that finds homes for animals. Hanlin Funeral Home has been assisting the Gossett family with the arrangements.
