Kenneth K. Coacher

Kenneth “Kenny” K. Coacher, 95, of Charles City, died Wednesday afternoon, November 5, 2009, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.
Private family services will be held in the chapel at the Trinity United Methodist Church. Pastor Gary Van Wert will officiate. Inurnment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Charles City.
Kenneth Kincel Coacher was born July 21, 1914, at Mitchell, S.D., the son of Augustus and Mary (Kincel) Coacher. He graduated from the Charles City High School and attended Upper Iowa University for three years. On February 15, 1941, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Chapler at Northwood. Kenny served in the United States Army during WWII from 1941 to 1946. For 40 years, Kenny was employed as a salesman for Farner-Bocken. He received the Governor’s Award for 20 years of volunteering in education. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Methodist Men, Lions Club and the Elks. Kenny volunteered at school, church, the Lions Rose Garden, Lions book sales and always enjoyed helping others. His interests included hunting, fishing, sports and growing roses.
Living family members include his wife, Dorothy Coacher of Charles City; daughter, Barbara Thorsen of Maple Grove, Minn.; three nieces, Beverly (James) Conklin of Plainfield, Jeanne (Hugo) Meisser of Sun City, Ariz. and Dianne Krebs of Fort Dodge; nephew, Dennis McCabe of Waterloo; and a sister-in-law, Beth McCabe of Fort Dodge.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Mary Coacher; two brothers, Darrell Coacher and Wilfred Coacher; and a sister, Marion White.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Trinity United Methodist Church, Elks Charitable Trust, and Learning Center, Lions Club projects or any charity of choice.
