Gladyce M. Fanska, 84, of Charles City, was promoted to glory, on Thursday, November 5, 2009, at Cedar Health in Charles City, surrounded by family.
Pastor Marty Miller will officiate. Inurnment will be at a later date.
Gladyce May Spurbeck was born February 12, 1925, in Chickasaw County, the daughter of Earl and Katie (Peters) Spurbeck. She graduated from the Charles City High School. On June 4, 1944, she was united in marriage to Arthur Fanska at Kansas City, Mo. Gladyce was employed at Sherman Nursery. She was a member of the First Wesleyan Church, Salvation Army and a Foster Grandparent. Her interests included reading, playing aggravation, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Living family members include her three daughters, Barbara (Bill) Dooty of Torrance, Calif., Linda (Steven) Clay of Charles City and Sandra (Richard) Christensen of Nashua; 14 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; son-in-law, Clyde Parker, Sr. of Mason City; brother, George Spurbeck of Quincy, Ill.; sister, Esther Barnett of Portland, Ore.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Thomas Fanska; daughter, Beverly Parker; grandson, Arthur Parker; sister, Elsie Norman; and a brother, Landis Spurbeck.
