| | | Gerald L. Wee, the son of John and Ethel (Misener) Wee, was born April 6, 1918, in Estherville, Iowa. He died on Saturday, November 7, 2009, at Rosewood Manor Nursing Home in Estherville at the age of 91.
He received his education in the Estherville schools, graduating from Estherville High School in 1936. After graduation from high school Gerald attended Estherville Junior College.
On September 8, 1940, Gerald was united in marriage to Eunice Kasa at her parent's home. Gerald was employed as a salesman for Curtis Candy in LeMars and Davenport, Iowa. The couple returned to Estherville where Gerald was employed as a Brakeman for the Rock Island Railroad for 17 years. He was disabled over the last years. In his leisure time Gerald enjoyed gardening, woodworking, fishing, taping music, big band music, dancing and was a huge fan of Many Voices Choir. Gerald was a big fan of Dick Bauman Big Band at the Iowa Great Lakes. Most important to Gerald was spending time with his family.
He attended First Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen, which later became the UTU (United Transportation Union).
Grateful for having shared Gerald's life are his wife, Eunice of Estherville; one son, Gary and his wife, Marilee of Estherville; 2 grandchildren, Jody and his wife, Linda and Todd and his wife, Cheryl; 4 great-grandchildren, Ashley, Whitney and Paije; 3 great-great-grandchildren, Christian, Derrick and Jesslyn; brother, Robert Wee and his wife, Joyce of Pollock Pines, California; sister Sherry Nauss and her husband, Jerry of Estherville; special niece, Beth Kraft, her husband, Terry of Estherville and their children, Chris and KC; and many nieces and nephews.
Gerald was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Jessica; his parents; two sisters, Ruth and Vernice and one brother, Merlyn Wee.
